Spite & Malice does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal information. It has no analytics, no advertising, no accounts, and no server of its own.
What stays on your device
Everything the app remembers is stored on your device. With one exception, noted below the list, none of it is sent anywhere:
- A game in progress, so you can pick a deal back up where you left it.
- Statistics — deals played, won, lost, drawn, and given up on.
- Which card decks you have earned, and the points that earned them.
- Settings such as sound, haptics, the opponent's pace and the length of the race.
- A count of completed games, used to run the free trial before purchase.
The exception is Game Center, and only if you are signed in to it: wins, your longest streak and the decks you have earned are then submitted to Apple's leaderboards and achievements. That is described under Apple services below. Signed out, nothing leaves the device at all.
Deleting the app removes all of it except one number: the count of completed games that runs the free trial is also kept in your device's keychain, which survives deleting and reinstalling. It is a single number, it is not sent anywhere, and it exists so that reinstalling does not hand out another free trial. Nothing else outlasts the app.
The opponent is on your device
All three games are played against an opponent that runs entirely on your device. There is no multiplayer, no matchmaking, and nothing about how you play is sent anywhere for the opponent to use.
Apple services the app uses
Two Apple features are optional and handled entirely by Apple, under Apple's privacy policy rather than ours. We never receive the data involved.
- Game Center. If you are signed in, wins, streaks and achievements are submitted to Apple's leaderboards. If you are not signed in, the app carries on without it — nothing is lost but the leaderboard entry.
- In-app purchase. The one-time unlock is processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details; we only ask Apple whether this Apple ID has purchased the unlock.
Those two are the only reasons the app ever touches the network. Every game is fully playable offline, including in aeroplane mode.
What we do not do
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No tracking, and no data shared with third parties for tracking.
- No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
- No accounts, sign-ups, email addresses, or contact information.
- No access to your camera, microphone, photos, contacts, or location.
Children
The app does not collect personal information from anyone, of any age. It contains no advertising and no third-party content.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new date. Since the app collects nothing, any change would be about clarity rather than about new data collection.
